First published in 1972, ‘A Play Leadership Handbook’ was originally published to support adults who wanted to set up holiday playschemes. It covers a wide range of topics, from finances and insurance to practical activities and the role of the play leader (now ‘playworker’).
Many of the tricky issues covered will be familiar to those operating holiday playschemes today (particularly open access schemes). ‘A Play Leadership Handbook’ provides a fascinating insight into the early days of the modern playwork profession.
